The Wildwoods Farm is a family-run farm in Hadley Township, Michigan, run by Chris and Sarah Kamyszek. This page says what we collect on this website and when you order from us, why we need it, who helps us handle it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
The short version
- We collect what you send us and what it takes to get your food to you.
- We don't sell your information or share it for anyone's marketing.
- Our visit counts use no cookies and no personal information.
- You can ask to see or delete what we have about you at any time: chris@thewildwoods.net.
What we collect, and why
When you order eggs
The order form sends us your name, your email and phone number if you give them, how you'd like us to reach you, your note, and what you ordered. For a drop-off, it also sends your street address, town and ZIP code. We use them to fill your order, bring it to you, and reach you about it.
When you check an address
To see whether an address is on our drop-off route, we send it to the U.S. Census Bureau's free address lookup, and to Geocodio if the Census can't find it. They send back a map point. Checking an address on its own saves nothing. Once an order is finished or cancelled, we clear its street address from our records after 30 days.
When you tap "Use my location"
Your phone works out whether it is on our route by itself. Your location is never sent to us or saved.
When you reserve a lamb share or join a list
Shopify runs our checkout and keeps our mailing list. When you reserve a share, Shopify takes your payment and gives us your name, email and order. When you join a list, we keep your email and send you word when that food is ready. Every email has a link to unsubscribe.
When you visit
We count visits without cookies and without keeping your IP address: just the page, the site that sent you, and whether you're on a phone or a computer. The company that hosts the site keeps standard server logs, including your IP address, to keep the site running and stop abuse. Our maps load pictures from OpenStreetMap, and the map's code comes from jsDelivr; like any website, they see your IP address when they send them.
In your own browser
While you're sending an order, your browser keeps a note of it so a page reload can't send it twice. Your order's private status link lives only where you keep it. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes both.
Text messages
If you give us your phone number with an egg order, we may text you about that order: to confirm a delivery and how you'll pay, to tell you if your order moves in line, and to let you know your eggs were dropped off. We text only about orders you placed, and we don't send marketing texts. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop and HELP for help. Our terms say more.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Who helps us handle it
We don't sell or rent your information. These companies run parts of the site and our orders for us, and see only what that work needs:
- Render hosts the site and keeps our records, and Cloudflare helps deliver the site and protect it.
- Yester & Morrow, our farm software company, runs the ordering system for us.
- Twilio carries our text messages.
- Shopify runs checkout and our mailing list.
- The U.S. Census Bureau and Geocodio check addresses against our route.
Otherwise we share information only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Orders, messages and sign-ups stay until you ask us to delete them, or until we no longer need them to work with you. Street addresses come off a finished order after 30 days.
Your choices
- Write to chris@thewildwoods.net to see, correct or delete what we have about you. We answer within 30 days.
- Reply STOP to any text from us.
- Use the unsubscribe link in any email from us.
Children
This site is for grown-ups buying food. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
